Deville Smith, former guard for UNLV and the University of Tennessee at Martin, has signed a contract to play for MAFC Budapest in the Hungarian Basketball League.

Smith will depart for training camp in two weeks with MAFC Budapest, whose season begins in early October and runs through late April. MAFC Budapest is part of the 14-team Hungarian Basketball League and its seven championships rank third all-time in league history.

Last season, Smith was part of a dramatic turnaround in the Skyhawk basketball program. After transferring in from UNLV for his senior year, the 6-0, 175-pound point guard earned All-Ohio Valley Conference second team and OVC All-Newcomer accolades while also earning National Association of Basketball Coaches second team All-District 19 honors. He was also named as one of 26 finalists for the Riley Wallace Award, which recognizes the nation’s best transfer.
