Consequently, Donny and Marie Osmond are returning to the Strip in 2016 in the showroom named for them at Flamingo Las Vegas.
Donny & Marie have formally signed a contract extension through next year, extending a run that began in September 2008 as a six-week stint.
On Saturday, Donny Osmond indicated that a lengthy wait for his sister and him to decide on their future on the Strip was about to be resolved. The two met that afternoon to make the final decision and have since officially signed the deal.
“I will say this much: I like it here, and I want to stay here,” he said at Town Square as he served again as spokesman for the Danny Gans Memorial Champions Run for Life for Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation. “We both like it here.”
That affection works both ways. The former Flamingo Showroom was renamed Donny & Marie Showroom in October 2013, and the duo share the venue with Olivia Newton-John, who headlines on their off nights.
Also announced on Facebook is that Donny & Marie are to be honored with wax statues at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas at the Venetian in early 2016.
Terms of Donny & Marie’s new contract have not been announced, but it reportedly covers at least 2016. The duo are on the road in December with their annual holiday shows and would likely not return to the Strip until February, as Donny has booked a series of solo shows through January.
This year has been particularly successful for Donny & Marie, who have reportedly shown one of their strongest sales years ever, nearly matching their first year at the Flamingo. Their current contract was to time out Nov. 14, with a total of 13 shows remaining at the hotel through the end of this year.
