This week, Monday By the Numbers opens with a nod to Palace Station, which is celebrating a significant anniversary on Friday as a trendsetter among Las Vegas locals' casinos. A fireworks extravaganza is set for 9 p.m. Friday at the hotel, launching a monthlong celebration at Station Casinos properties.

Also in the mix: Garth, Trisha, Iron Mike and some cycling. Let’s roll the stats:

40: Years since Frank Fertitta Jr. opened The Casino, later to be known as Palace Station, on West Sahara Avenue (the exact date being July 1, 1976).

5,000:Square feet The Casino originally occupied.
