Vegas Play of the Day: Cardinals at Brewers

Sat, Apr 25, 2015 (2 a.m.)

Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point . Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

St. Louis Cardinals minus-150 at Milwaukee Brewers: $750 to win $500 This is the third straight entry I’ve bet against Milwaukee in our play of the day feature. Can you blame me? The Brewers are, at least in my opinion, the worst team in baseball. We’re still in the first month of the season and the Brew Crew are already more than 10 games under .500 with a 3-14 record.

Things won’t get easier against the Cardinals — the class of the National League Central. St. Louis, which seemingly makes a deep playoff run every season and sports an impressive 11-4 record in 2015, is starting ace Adam Wainwright. Wainwright is 2-1 with a 1.71 ERA this season, striking out 14 batters and walking just three. He’ll be impossible for Milwaukee — which ranks 28th out of 30 MLB teams in runs scored with just 46 in 17 games — to hit.

On Friday, Milwaukee was limited to five hits in being shut out by St. Louis. I’m guessing the Brewers will be blanked again today.

Standings: Standings: Keefer (77-73-2, $11,387), Bern (75-66-1, $10,962), Brewer (67-80-3, $2,745)
