Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green (23) shoots the basketball against Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol (33) during the first half of Game 1 in a second-round NBA playoff basketball series in Oakland, Calif., on Sunday, May 3, 2015. The Warriors won 101-86.

Yesterday was a cold day in this space.

I dropped below profitable in the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point, for the first time in months. Heating back up to get comfortably over the $10,000 starting bankroll point becomes the new task.

Golden State Warriors minus-10 vs. Houston Rockets: $550 to win $500

I’m pouncing on almost every opportunity to back the Warriors at this point. The strategy paid off immensely at the end of the last round, and there’s no reason to stop now.

The fact that the Rockets hung with the Warriors, and led by as many as 16 points, in game one only enhances my position on the home team. The Rockets’ blistering game one start was an anomaly, aided by the Warriors shooting uncharacteristically poorly and looking out of sync after four days off.

Defense on Steph Curry, who could have wound up with far more than 34 points, was lax at best on the night and unlikely to improve in game two. Houston center Dwight Howard is a game-time decision, which is a big concern considering he’s the one major matchup problem for Golden State.

Howard missed about half of the regular season, and Houston always increased its pace without him. That’s suicide against Golden State, one of the best transition teams ever in the NBA.

The Warriors might plainly be one of the best NBA teams ever. Their point differential and advanced metrics support the idea. Sounds like a team I want to bet on.
