Here’s the latest installment of the Play of the Day, which uses odds from the South Point. Our three sports writers started with a $10,000 bankroll — fictional, of course.

Pittsburgh Pirates minus-110 vs New York Mets: $550 to win $500 After starting the season with a 16-8 record, the New York Mets are just 8-11 over their next 19 games. That includes losing five straight on the road, including managing just one run Friday at Pittsburgh against Pirates’ hard-throwing righty Gerrit Cole.

New York faces A.J. Burnett, another hard-throwing righty, this afternoon and should again struggle to find offense. The Mets’ inability to score, they plated two runs in 14 innings Monday, two runs Tuesday and were shutout Wednesday, can be partially credited to a lineup with a few Triple-A callups in major roles. Players such as Eric Campbell and Kevin Plawecki were great with the Las Vegas 51s, but aren’t consistent threats at this stage of their big-league career.

The Mets will start Matt Harvey, who is arguably the best pitcher in the National League. And Pittsburgh, a team some predicted would contend for the pennant, has a losing record and also is painfully bad offensively. But the Pirates have talent and are tough to beat at home. They realize the best way to catch the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Central race is to defend their home turf.

Standings: Bern (79-70-1, $11,300), Keefer (80-80-2, $9,317), Brewer (69-83-3, $1,725)
