We’re entering the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Lorenz Larkin plus-105 vs. Neil Magny at UFC 202: $400 to win $420

For most, picking this fight is as simple as looking at both fighters’ UFC records. Magny is 11-3; Larkin is 4-5.

That doesn’t tell the whole story, though. For one thing, Larkin’s overall level of competition has been higher, and more importantly, heavier.

Larkin spent most of his career at middleweight, only recently dropping to welterweight. And the move appears to have paid dividends, as the Riverside, Calif.-based fighter seems to be hitting his stride with victories in three of his last four bouts.

That’s the same record as Magny over his last four. This could also be a fight stylistically advantageous to Larkin.

The rangy Magny likes to strike, and while he’s talented on the feet, Larkin has an overall edge standing up. This fight could well be explosive, with many great exchanges, but Larkin has the ability to get the best of the majority of them.

He’s durable, and won’t get finished. It might come down to a close call on the judges’ scorecards, but even in that case, it’s more desirable to have the fighter at plus money.

Current Standings: Keefer (7-5, $10,420), Brewer (7-7, $10,345), Bern (4-6, $9,570)
