New York Mets starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (48) works against a San Diego Padres batter during the first inning of a baseball game Monday, July 24, 2017, in San Diego.

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

New York Mets plus-115 vs Los Angeles Dodgers: $500 to win $575

Yu Darvish makes his debut tonight for Los Angeles after the MLB-best Dodgers acquired the right-hander at the trade deadline. While the Dodgers are clearly the better team, I think Jacob deGrom, who is starting for the Mets, has a huge advantage in this matchup.

Darvish was atrocious during the end of his run with the Texas Rangers, winning only two of his last 10 starts with the club. In his Rangers’ finale, Darvish gave up nine hits and 10 earned runs in only 3.2 innings of baseball en route to a 22-10 loss to the Marlins.

Meanwhile, deGrom has been great. The 29-year-old had won eight straight before losing a close 3-2 game to Seattle his last time out. During that eight-game stretch, deGrom gave up only 11 runs.

Las Vegas 51s star Amed Rosario will also be making his Mets debut and could inject some offense into a team that sorely needs it.

The Dodgers are clearly better than the Mets — 26 games games better to be exact — but I’ll take my chances with deGrom as a rare underdog against a struggling Darvish.

Current Standings: Granger (4-3, $12,157), Keefer (4-2, $10,795), Grimala (1-1, $10,010), Brewer (3-4, $8,780)
