We’re entering the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.

Milwaukee Brewers minus-1.5 at plus-130: $500 to win $650 : I usually don’t recommend betting the home team to win by more than one run — they get one less at-bat, after all. But today is different. The Brewers are one of baseball’s best power-hitting teams, and the Phillies struggle to score. The Phillies, with a 29-59 record, are struggling to do most things.

The second half of the season started Friday and teams are more than aware if they are in contention for the playoffs. Philly is playing out the schedule; Milwaukee is looking to extend its lead at the top of the National League Central. The Brewers’ players know they can’t lose against a weak opponent such as the Phillies, meaning a wager on the run-line isn’t that bad of an idea.

Milwaukee should score early and often in a Saturday night — when ballparks across the lead are packed to create a true home field advantage — win.

Current Standings: Granger (3-1, $11,062), Brewer (2-1, $10,500), Keefer (2-1, $10,429), Grimala (0-1, $9,500)
