We’re entering the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.
Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-2016 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015.
UNLV plus-7 at Air Force, $660 to win $600: Air Force has just one victory, and has given up 56 and 48 points in its two most recent games. The UNLV offense, when not playing against nationally ranked foes Ohio State and San Diego State, features a top-20 rushing attack.
I’ve long pegged UNLV to win at Air Force, because the Rebels traditionally give the Falcons a good game in Colorado Springs, Colo. It’s going to come down to which team runs the ball more efficiently, and I’ll take standout freshman quarterback Armani Rogers and Lexington Thomas, the fastest player on the field, over whomever Air Force hands the ball to.
Every remaining game on the UNLV schedule in winnable. Look for the Rebels to be competitive each Saturday the rest of the season, including grabbing a victory against an Air Force team in a down season.
