A Metro Police investigation determined that a lieutenant who investigated sexual harassment complaints made unwanted sexual comments to two women he supervised.
Investigators determined Lt. Greg McCurdy, 39, made the sexual comments to two women -- a civilian and an officer -- and created a hostile work environment, Undersheriff Richard Winget said today.
"The investigation found that the accusations were correct," Winget said.
The civilian employee and a corrections officer working as a recruiter filed the complaint earlier this year against McCurdy, who was supervising them in the recruitment and background unit in the personnel section.
McCurdy, a Metro officer for 16 years, has been called on by the Employment Diversity Office to investigate harassment complaints.
Sheriff Jerry Keller will decide what punishment McCurdy will face. Winget said the disciplinary action will be serious, but will not include firing or demotion.
"Lt. McCurdy will have to suffer the consequences for what he did," Winget said. "He's been a strong leader, and responsibility is on him to redeem himself and resume a stellar career."
McCurdy has been on administrative leave with pay during the investigation, and when he returns to duty, he will not return to the unit where he supervised the two women who filed the complaint.
McCurdy could not be reached for comment this morning.
