I’d like to address two issues.
First, I recently moved back to the Las Vegas area from Tyler, Texas. I moved back here for a very good reason. I have emphysema — chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Therefore, clean air is very important to me. That said, I can hope and pray we take advantage of all this gorgeous sunshine we are blessed with.
In Thursday’s Las Vegas Sun was a great guest “Where I Stand” column in favor of solar power written by David Comarow. I believe a solar energy initiative should be on the ballot in this year’s election. Go solar power!
The second issue is the fine public transit system we have here. As a disabled person, I appreciate the paratransit bus. The folks who run it are wonderful. Even with a limited income, it is inexpensive for me. The drivers are wonderful and I just wanted the opportunity to give them credit where it is so deserved. Whoever came up with this program should be thanked by all of the folks who ride these buses. They are a godsend.
Thank you for listening to a new permanent resident. I’m here for good now.

How permanent are you. Do you have a guaranteed income? Without it you may be the next to leave as jobs disappear daily. You like the transit system, just hang on. With tax receipts falling like a rock as visitors decline the public services are all going to be cut back. You like our schools, just wait until they add up the loses from the effects of high energy costs cut them 20% next year. Nevada is chasing California to be the first state bankrupt in this country of ours
Geesh, the lady just said she likes it here - leave her alone and stop raining on her parade ;)
