CARSON CITY – Justice of the Peace Robey Willis says he will retire in January 2011 after 27 years on the bench, the longest serving justice of the peace in Carson City history.

Willis, 67, says he may be the longest serving justice of the peace currently in the state. He is retiring with a year left on his term and is asking the Carson City Board of Supervisors to schedule a special election to fill the post, rather than appointing a replacement.

Willis says he will become a senior judge to fill in for other justices of the peace in the state.
