Metro Police are investigating the late Wednesday shooting death of a 22-year-old Las Vegas man outside a northwest valley bar.

Michael Portaro, a former athlete at Faith Lutheran High School, died from multiple gunshot wounds, authorities said.

Metro Police said they received a call just before 11:30 p.m. Wednesday reporting a body outside the Tenaya Creek Brewery, 3101 North Tenaya Way, near MountainView Hospital.

Customers at the bar found the body, police said.

When officers arrived they found a man covered in blood with multiple gunshot wounds, Metro Lt. Barb Schmidt said. Portaro, an aspiring rapper, was declared dead at the scene.

Portaro’s younger brother, Joe, was Faith Lutheran’s quarterback last season and committed to walk-on with the UNLV football team later this year.

Police said early Thursday afternoon that they have no information about possible suspects or vehicles involved in the shooting, but they continue to investigate.

Anyone with information about the shooting is being asked to contact Metro’s Homicide Detail at 828-3521 or Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
