Victor Chaltiel, 2011 Las Vegas mayoral candidate, dies at 72

Victor Chaltiel, who ran for mayor of Las Vegas in 2011, died Monday. He was 72.

A native of France, Chaltiel was one of 18 candidates who ran for mayor that year. He came in fourth in the primary.

Carolyn Goodman defeated Chris Giunchigliani months later in the general election.

Before the primary, it was reported that his campaign outspent all his opponents.

His campaign touted his business background. Among numerous other ventures, he founded Redhills Ventures LLC.

He is survived by his wife, Toni, and three children.
