This may come as a shock to you: Nevada doesn’t have a state cat. Two states do — Maryland (the calico cat) and Maine (the Maine Coon cat). The Silver State can show leadership in the West. It can be a breed of cat, such as the Maine Coon or the calico.
Our leaders in Carson City could pass a bill and when it is signed into law have our residents nominate and vote for their favorite feline.
There are thousands of cat lovers here who would love this, and the politicians who pass the bill would endear themselves to those folks. Legislators are contemplating making the square dance the official dance of Nevada. Why not an official state cat?
