University Medical Center’s laboratory has been named one of the best in the nation, according to a medical industry publication.
Medical Laboratory Observer designated UMC’s laboratory as the “2015 Lab of the Year First Runner Up,” based on customer service, teamwork, organization, patient care, education and efficiency.
Wait times for blood draws at the UMC laboratory, which processes 4 million test results each year, averaged less than 10 minutes in 2014, the publication noted. It also lauded the use of Kenny the robot, which transports lab specimens to various departments.
UMC’s laboratory has 80 full-time employees.
The laboratory at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin was named the “2015 Lab of the Year” by Medical Laboratory Observer.
