Feds arrest 25 foreign nationals in Las Vegas sweep

Wed, Jul 1, 2015 (1:19 p.m.)

Federal officials say 25 foreign citizens including convicted child sex offenders and drug traffickers were arrested in the Las Vegas area during a four-day operation last week.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced today that most of those arrested had multiple prior criminal convictions, including 13 on charges also including child molestation, driving under the influence resulting in death and possessing stolen mail.

Daniel Bible, an ICE official in Salt Lake City, says four of those arrested were previously deported and will face felony federal prosecution because they returned to the U.S.

ICE says the people arrested Thursday through Sunday came from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, the Philippines and Cuba.

Officials say those who aren't facing criminal prosecution remain in bureau custody pending administrative processing for deportation.
