Cab drivers defending a bad business model

Sat, Jun 27, 2015 (2 a.m.)

I have a message for all the cab drivers in town. I am a local (born and raised here), and the fact that you are protesting Uber is insulting and utterly ridiculous.

Cabbies want nothing to do with locals. They have no desire to leave the Strip to take a local home, or anywhere other than the Strip. Also, the fact that they are notorious for long-hauling (a fact proved many times over by locals and sting operations to catch them in this heinous practice) is a great reason to avoid cabs like the plague for locals. The bottom line is if you can’t handle Uber and other services competing with your (monopolized) business, then get your act together, stop screwing over your customers and stop ignoring your local clientele.

I get the reason cabbies want to stay on the Strip, but don’t expect locals to tolerate your ludicrous attitudes and obscene wait times to get us to our local destinations.
