Henderson grocery store reopens after fire

A Vons grocery store in Henderson was evacuated and temporarily closed after an fire Thursday night, according to the Henderson Fire Department.

Firefighters responded about 8:20 p.m. to reports of a fire at the store at 2667 E. Windmill Parkway, near Pecos Road. When they arrived, they found smoke in the back of the store, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The fire was in the roof structure in an area that was recently under construction, fire officials said.

The store was evacuated and closed for repairs, and the fire was ruled accidental by investigators, officials said.

The store reopened this morning, according to a store employee.

A damage estimate won’t be available until the store can determine product loss, the fire department said.
