Buoyed by the Fremont Cannon victory, which he correctly predicted, Las Vegas Sun sports editor Ray Brewer makes all kinds of proclamations about the rest of UNLV's football season and what's in store for the basketball team while reporters Case Keefer and Taylor Bern attempt in vein to talk him down.

The Rebels are currently figuring out their rotation for the 2015-16 season but the work on future rosters never stops as the class of 2016 gained another commitment today from guard Jaylen Fisher.

A 6-foot-2 guard who plays for Bolton High in Memphis, Fisher announced his decision during a ceremony at his school. He’s the fourth player to join next year’s class. The group also includes Findlay Prep wing Carlos Johnson, Connecticut guard Christian Vital and former Findlay Prep forward Justin Jackson.

Fisher picked the Rebels over Memphis, Baylor, Indiana and Arkansas. He took an official visit to UNLV’s campus about a month ago and he told ESPN that part of his rationale for picking the Rebels is the group of players he would play alongside.

“I love the way they get up and down the court and the pieces that I will get to play with, like Goodluck Okonoboh, Patrick McCaw, Dwayne Morgan, Derrick Jones and Stephen Zimmerman, if he is not one and done,” Fisher said.

Zimmerman most likely is one and done, and UNLV’s personnel path kind of depends on it. The Rebels have only two seniors — guards Jerome Seagers and Ike Nwamu — and at least four players expected to enter the program next season.

That means at least two more scholarship players would need to depart, and considering the transfer trend here and elsewhere around the country it’s easy to see that coming together from players moving to the pros or another program.
