Chinese tourist identified in fatal Pahrump crash

PAHRUMP — Authorities have identified the Chinese tourist who was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Pahrump.

The Nevada Highway Patrol said 61-year-old Zhongping Zhou of Beijjing, China died at the scene of the Saturday morning crash near State Route 160 and Bell Vista Road, about an hour west of Las Vegas.

Zhou was sitting in the right rear passenger seat of a Hyundai SUV with four other Chinese tourists when it tried to make a left turn from SR 160 and was hit by a Ford Excursion SUV.

Two men, a boy and a woman in the Hyundai were hospitalized. Three men in the Ford also suffered minor injuries.

Authorities said the tourists were likely headed to Death Valley.

No charges have been filed.
