Dozens of impersonators, balloon artists, musicians and sometimes scantily-clad street performers say they still have concerns about a Las Vegas effort to tame the often rowdy gauntlet of downtown entertainers turning off some tourists.
The Las Vegas City Council voted Wednesday to continue to matter to its Sept. 16 meeting.
City staff laid out the latest version of the proposed ordinance to establish performance zones along Fremont Street and performers who spoke during the meeting said it would push them out, violate their rights to free speech or didn't do enough to curb a chaotic, competitive environment.
City attorney Brad Jerbic made a few changes to the proposal including setting the time spaces would need to be reserved from 3 p.m. to 1 a.m. instead of originally 2 a.m.
