This home at 1000 North 17th Street caught fire Wednesday, April 27, 2016.

Three juveniles were arrested and charged with arson Wednesday after a fire in a vacant house downtown caused $20,000 in damage. Nobody was injured.

Firefighters were called about 2:15 p.m. to 1000 North 17th Street, near North Bruce Street and East Washington Avenue, where light smoke was coming from the house, according to Las Vegas Fire & Rescue.

The one-story, boarded up house was heavily involved with flames so additional fire units were requested to assist with the fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze within 10 minutes, fire officials said.

Damage was confined to the interior of the vacant house and did not spread.

Neighbors told investigators that kids were seen running from the house just before the smoke was seen, fire officials said. Shortly after, Metro Police located and detained the juveniles.

Fire investigators interviewed the juveniles and determined they were responsible for the fire. They were arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center, where they were charged with first-degree arson, officials said. The suspects' ages were unclear.

Details on how and why the fire started are not being released at this time.

The incident remains under investigation.
