A construction site security guard found shot to death early Wednesday might have interrupted a burglary, according to Metro Police.

"He put up a fight and appears to have been in a physical fight," Metro homicide Lt. Dan McGrath said. Evidence at the scene suggests there was a struggle, he said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was guarding an apartment complex being built in the 5100 block of South Jerry Tarkanian Way, police said.

The security company reported him missing and called 911, police said. Police found him about 12:30 a.m. with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police believe he was shot around 11 p.m., McGrath said. Investigators also found that a fence was knocked over and that property from the apartment complex was missing.

No suspects have been identified and no motive has been established, police said.
