The UNLV basketball team went into halftime with an 11-point lead and doubled that in the first two and a half minutes of the second half, cruising to a 106-85 victory against the CTG Knights on Tuesday afternoon. The Rebels will wrap up their Bahamas exhibition tour Thursday at 2 p.m. Las Vegas time against the Providence Storm.

Five Rebels scored in double figures, led by Kris Clyburn’s 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting plus eight rebounds. Senior Christian Jones posted another double-double with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Jalen Poyser (17 points), Tyrell Green (14) and Uche Ofoegbu (12) also scored in double figures.

The game was close after the first quarter and sloppy throughout as CTG scored 28 points off UNLV’s 29 turnovers. But the Rebels dominated in the paint, shooting 75.5 percent on 2-point attempts and winning the rebounding battle 49-34. The Knights’ Eugene Bain, who played at multiple small colleges in Nebraska, led all players with 42 points.

UNLV struggled at the 3-point line, shooting 7-of-25, but it was better at the free-throw line, sinking 11-of-16. Missed free throws led directly to a one-point loss in Sunday’s loss to the University of Toronto.
