The last three women’s bantamweight title fights in the UFC have all resulted in upsets.

It’s time to discern whether the trend extends to top-contender bouts Saturday night at the United Center in Chicago for UFC on Fox 20, which airs on the network channel starting at 3 p.m. With Ronda Rousey having given no indication she plans to return soon, the winner of the UFC on Fox 20 main event between Holly Holm and Valentina Shevchenko is the likely first challenger for new champion Amanda Nunes.

Holm is the moderately sized favorite at minus-215 (risking $2.15 to win $1) with Shevchenko coming back at plus-180 (risking $1 to win $1.80). But that might sound familiar as Holm was a little bigger favorite going into her title defense against Miesha Tate earlier this year before falling victim to a submission.

Tate came back at more than a 2-to-1 favorite over Nunes at UFC 200 but lost via first-round knockout. The Las Vegas Sun picks panel isn’t heeding the underdog tendency in the 135-pound class going into UFC on Fox 20.

All four prognosticators — ESPN Radio’s Steve Cofield (55-34), Las Vegas Sun’s Ray Brewer (53-36), KSNV’s Randy Howe (53-36) and Las Vegas Sun’s Case Keefer (47-42) — went with Holm to pull out her first victory since stunning Ronda Rousey last year.
