The Rebels picked up their second commit out of Illinois this week as shooting guard Zion Morgan this morning announced his decision to attend UNLV.
Morgan, listed at 6-foot-4 and 180 pounds, played for Kenwood Academy in Chicago. On Monday, the Rebels received a commitment from Ben Coupet, who played for Simeon High in Chicago.
Morgan had committed to Valparaiso in October but decommitted a month later, saying he'd rushed into the decision. Morgan also had an offer from Toledo and interest from Wisconsin but planned to take a postgraduate year at Gateway Prep Academy in Illinois, according to 247sports.com, until the Rebels came calling.
Morgan is now the fourth high school commit to the program, and there could be more soon as 6-foot-11 forward Jordy Tshimanga, a Montreal native playing in Massachusetts, has reportedly canceled his visit to Oklahoma State and will instead visit UNLV this weekend. Tshimanga has a 7-foot-1 older brother, Link Kabadyundi, who played at Blinn Junior College in Texas and could go with Tshimanga to a school that has enough open scholarships.
Though they’re starting to fill up, UNLV certainly fits that bill.
