A man used Facebook’s Messenger application to lure a 13-year-old girl to have sex with him, a Metro Police arrest report alleges.

Edwin Lima, 24, is being held without bail at the Clark County Detention Center on two counts of sexual assault against a child younger than 14, jail logs show.

On July 10, Metro was made aware of a Facebook post in which a friend of the victim alleged Lima had engaged in sex acts with the girl, police said. The post included a video that appeared to show Lima and the girl kissing on a bed, police said.

In an interview with detectives, the victim said Lima contacted her through Facebook in May and that they met sometime that month, according to the report. He took her to his northeast valley home and they twice engaged in sex acts on the same day, the report alleges.

The victim told detectives that she initially told Lima she was 14 but later told him her real age, police said.

When confronted by detectives, Lima admitted to the acts but said he thought the girl was 16, Nevada’s legal age of consent, and that he only found out she was 13 after they had sex, according to police.

In a second interview on Wednesday, when he was arrested, he contradicted himself about the girl’s claimed age, which ranged from 13 to 17, and how he found out, police said.

Lima’s next court appearance is set for Aug. 8.
