We’ve entered the third season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. Ray Brewer won the 2015-2016 season, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-2015. Bern stepped away in the middle of the 2016-2017 season with a 16-12 record and $13,317 bankroll, with Mike Grimala taking his place.

Minnesota Wild minus-170 vs. San Jose Sharks, $510 to win $300:

Two of the best teams in the Western Conference meet tonight in St. Paul, Minn.

The Sharks lead the Pacific Division with 91 points, while the Wild are chasing Chicago for the Central Division crown. Not only are the Wild more motivated to win this game, but they are also outstanding at home (23-10-1 on the season).

This game is a true matchup of strength versus strength, as the Wild’s No. 2 ranked offense faces the Sharks’ No. 2 ranked defense. I’m rolling with the Wild’s offense at home.

San Jose boasts one of the best blue lines in the league, led by 6-foot-5, 230-pound Brent Burns. He leads San Jose in points and assists, and is second in goals. He will be tough on the inside for San Jose, but Minnesota’s foursome of 20-goal scorers (Mikael Granlund, Eric Staal, Nino Niederreiter, and Jason Zucker) should find the back of the net at least a couple times.

In goal, I think Devan Dubnyk snaps his five-game losing streak to get the Wild within striking distance of Chicago. Minus-170 is a lot to lay against a team as good as San Jose, but I think the Wild will be the better team tonight.

Current Standings: Grimala (5-9, $8,450), Keefer (39-34-2, $8,381), Brewer (26-26-1, $7,385), Granger (12-15-1, $7,290)
