An 18-year-old man police say was shot and killed by his brother last week has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Nicholas Caples.

Officers and medical crews were called about 3 p.m. March 17 to a house in the 10200 block of Yarmouth Sea Court, near Grand Teton Drive and Hualapai Way, Metro Police said.

Caples, who was armed with a large knife, was in a physical struggle with his father, police said. The 22-year-old brother intervened and fired a round from a gun, fatally striking Caples in the chest, police said.

The case was turned over to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, which will consider whether to file charges, police said Saturday.
