An unmarked, white Metro Police cruiser, along with a handgun, badge, uniform and other equipment, was stolen from a garage Monday during a burglary in the west valley, authorities said.

The 2007 Nissan Maxima with Nevada plates 003UHM was taken between 3:45 and 6:50 p.m. near Alta Drive and South Pavilion Center Drive, police said. It was equipped with emergency lights and a siren, police said.

Also taken with the car were a police radio, a tactical vest with police insignia, a police ID card, a yellow police jacket and a Taser, officials said.

Anyone who is stopped by an unmarked police car and questions the authenticity of the officer can call 911 to verify the legitimacy of the officer, ask the officer to show a picture ID or ask the officer to request that a marked car respond, officials said.

If in doubt, pull over in a populated area, such as a parking lot, or, if the stop occurs at night, continue on to a well-lit area, officials said.

Anyone with information should call 911. To remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or crimestoppersofnv.com.
