Letters to the Editor:

I’ve had it with Trump

Wed, Sep 20, 2017 (2 a.m.)

I don’t regularly write letters to the editor of newspapers, but it’s time I make an exception.

Our current president is a disaster.

He’s clearly out of his element, and his attempt to lead is taking this great country down the wrong path.

First of all, Donald Trump is a demagogue, nothing more. Apparently, many Americans want to be fooled and lied to. Trump does those very things extremely well.

Trump’s promise to return America to the “good old days” (MAGA) reminds me of the propaganda that was used during the late 1920s and early 1930s by the National Socialists in Germany.

The global economy isn’t going away, and Trump’s promise to negate its influence on America is pie-in-the sky rhetoric that hurts, not helps, Americans.

Trump’s talk of using high protective tariffs to keep American jobs at home sounds like something that was tried but failed in America during the 1920s and ’30s. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act comes quickly to mind.

It’s time to retrain our workforce, make education more affordable for the masses and make Medicare a program that covers every single American.

It’s time to rebuild our crumbling infrastructure, put billions and billions into medical research and quit using the immigrant, both legal and illegal, as a scapegoat.

We must look to the future, not the past.
