In a week where the Golden Knights made two big trade acquisitions, they saved their biggest for last with minutes to spare before the trade deadline.

The Golden Knights have acquired forward Tomas Hertl and two third-round picks from the San Jose Sharks, the team made official on Friday. The deal was first reported by TSN.

Vegas is getting San Jose's third-round selections in 2025 and 2027, and are retaining 17% of Hertl's salary. The 30-year-old center has six years remaining on his contract that carries a cap hit of $8.137 million. The Golden Knights will be responsible for $6.75 million until 2030.

The Sharks are acquiring the Golden Knights' first-round pick in 2025 and 2023 first-round pick David Edstrom in the deal.

Hertl's addition caps off a week where the Golden Knights added to their roster without much subtraction. Vegas added forward Anthony Mantha on Tuesday in a trade with the Washington Capitals, then added defenseman Noah Hanifin from the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night.

The Flames will receive the Golden Knights' 2026 first-round pick due to trading the 2025 first prior to the deadline.

Hertl is a two-time 30-goal scorer who has spent his entire career with the Golden Knights' division rival from San Jose. He has not played since Jan. 27 after undergoing minor left knee surgery, totaling 34 points in 48 games.

The 17th overall pick from the 2012 draft has 484 points (218 goals, 266 assists) in his 712-game NHL career.

General manager Kelly McCrimmon is set to address the media at around 2 p.m.
