Letter to the Editor:

Politics need not be so dishonest

Thu, Mar 28, 2024 (2 a.m.)

In response to the March 25 letter “Choose a steady leader in 2024”:

Does the writer believe he is more fair or moral than Republicans or Donald Trump’s supporters? He cites Trump’s statement that a bloodbath would result of President Joe Biden were to be reelected in November. But Trump was speaking to what would happen to the automotive industry.

He then cites Trump’s “fight like hell” comment Jan 6, 2021. It is true that he said those words. But he also said “march peacefully and patriotically” in the same speech.

Anti-Trumpers have plenty of real material to bolster their argument against the former president. Misconstruing and misquoting him is as misguided as those who think Trump can do no wrong.

I wish people on both sides of the political spectrum would look at the facts, and leave emotional hyperbole out of the equation. Look at words versus deeds and results. Come to your own conclusions and have respect for those who have come to a different conclusion.

Most people on both sides of politics want what’s best for America, but just have different ways to achieve it. We can still treat the other side with respect, no matter what side you find yourself.
