Diamond rocks

The first act confirmed to perform at the world's largest outdoor music event, England’s legendary Glastonbury Festival is… 67-year-old Vegas vet Neil Diamond.

The outdoor gig will coincide with Diamond’s summer tour of Europe. Electro-poppers Hot Chip have also been confirmed, and there’s speculation that Jay-Z, Leonard Cohen, Oasis—and yes, Led Zeppelin—will take the outdoor Pyramid stage at the 38-year-old festival between June 27-29.

Hippie-hearted Glastonbury has featured dinosaurs before: Just last year Dame Shirley Bassey joined a lineup headed by Arctic Monkeys, Bjork and The Killers—Bassey wore diamond-studded wellington boots to combat the Woodstock-muddy conditions.

Because of the worldwide demand, you have to pre-register to be eligible for tickets, which go on sale April 6; preregistration continues through Mar. 14.

If you’re a Diamond-lover, but can’t quite swing the cash to see him in a big field across the pond, you can catch Jay White’s tribute act, America’s Diamond Live Sundays through Thursdays at the Riviera Hotel and Casino.
