GOP already firing volleys at Obama fundraiser for Reid

WASHINGTON — Let the backlash begin.

One day after the extravaganza at Caesars Palace for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, the Republican campaign arm in the Senate posted a web-only video today criticizing the fundraising largess in these recessionary times.

Republicans are betting that Reid’s assertion that he will raise $25 million for his 2010 reelection will turnoff Nevadans who may frown at such a hefty sum. The Tuesday night event at Caesars brought in almost $2 million.

But Reid’s opponents are not wilting in the dollars race.

Republicans plan to raise $20 million for a yet-to-be-named challenger to the senator.

Reid, it should be remembered, promised an "aggressive" campaign.

And such endeavors cost.
