Las Vegas’ big bet on gay tourism

Two actors are shown in a screenshot from “The Check Out,” a new advertisement from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The ad, according to LVCVA officials, is the first national mainstream tourism television commercial that celebrates same-sex relationships.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority this week launched what it claims is the first national mainstream tourism television commercial that celebrates same-sex relationships. Separately, an episode of the ABC sitcom “Modern Family” last month featured a gay bachelor party and showcased gay-themed events Las Vegas has to offer.
