This week, Monday By the Numbers recalls the great opening night of the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas on Dec. 15, 2010. I met Gov. Brian Sandoval that night before he was yet governor. He was heading down an escalator and I was heading up, and I shouted my name and affiliation at him while not causing a security breach.
The following January, Sandoval was sworn in. He has since told me he remembers that encounter, which is both a testament to his impressive memory and the oddity of being shouted at from an escalator during a Strip resort opening.
