Culinary letters to conventioneers, concert headliners assert “vicious anti-union campaign” by Station Casinos

Fri, Jan 20, 2012 (10:55 a.m.)

The Culinary union's letters to conventions coming to Las Vegas and to concert headliners describe Station Casinos' effort to block their organizing efforts in harsh terms, and have sparked some blowback from those targeted, according to missives I have obtained.

The letters, posted at right and with names redacted to allow publication, are to possible Station attendees from the Culinary as well as one from a lawyer responding to the campaign. The Culinary letters, which resulted in the Station TV ad campaign (ads posted elsewhere on this blog), describe the National Labor Relations Board probe of Station and ask the potential visitors to go elsewhere in Las Vegas. The missives also use adjectives such as "vicious" and "ugly" to describe the Station tactics.

The rebuttal letter essentially accuses the union of an invasion of privacy and harassment.

This escalating dispute also will be the subject of my Sunday column.
