Las Vegas council could opt for special election to fill Wolfson’s seat, will decide next month

Mon, Jan 30, 2012 (1:48 p.m.)

A memo circulating at Las vegas City Hall indicates that the council could call for a special election to replace Councilman Steve Wolfson, whose resignation becomes official today.

The memo, which I have posted at right, indicates the council has used appointments in recent years. A number of candidates have expressed interest, including Ross Goodman, son of mayors; Michael Mack, ex-councilman and friend of mayors (UPDATE: He has now dropped out); and Ric Truesdell, longtime planning commissioner and friend of mayors.

Unless there is a special meeting, the earliest it could be on the council agenda is Feb. 15.
