Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy rocker husband Pete Wentz will make a joint appearance here to celebrate New Year’s Eve. The battle to book other celebs is also heating up.

* For the first time since the upcoming birth of their first baby, Ashlee Simpson and Fall Out Boy rocker husband Pete Wentz will make a joint appearance here to celebrate New Year’s Eve. Hard rumors swirled last night that the mighty Pure Management Group has booked them to ring in the new year with a countdown at Pure nightclub in Caesars Palace.

Also rumored is that another tight twosome, Heidi Montag and beaufriend Spencer Pratt of MTV’s "The Hills," will spend their New Year’s Eve at French designer Christian Audigier’s nightclub in Treasure Island.

The Dec. 31 Strip extravaganzas also include the Kardashian sisters teaming up for the countdown and New Year’s celebration at LAX nightclub in the Luxor. Sexy bombshell Kim, our current Vegas Magazine cover girl, will be joined by sisters Khloe and Kourtney and other family members, including mom Beverly and Olympic gold medalist stepdad Bruce Jenner for the Strip festivities.

We got the news late last night, but it couldn’t be officially confirmed, although I was told that if I ran with the star stories, I wouldn’t be off the mark! The Strip nightclubs are in a tough battle this year for competing celebrities, and the first salvo fired by the Pure executives will force the other clubs in town to keep competitive.

“They landed the biggest of the hot young celebrities way in advance of anybody else because it’s doubtful stars will be in Vegas the weekend before or the weekend after New Year’s simply because it falls midweek on a Wednesday this year. Looks like they’ve scooped the lot,” one nightclub executive said.

We'll keep an eye open and an ear perked for first news on all the other stars headed our way for the holidays! Paris Hilton and Good Charlotte rocker boyfriend Benji Madden won’t be here this year as they have accepted a New Year's Eve booking in Australia. She’ll launch the new social networking system Bongo Virus, and he’ll be the guest DJ at the Sydney Harbor party.

Two years ago it was reported that Paris had been paid $500,000 for a new Bondi Blonde Beer campaign there, and now Down Under snoops say it’ll be double that for the two of them this Dec. 31. You’ll actually be able to watch it online before you go off to party because Australia is so many time zones ahead of us! Expect the couple to vacation there on the Gold Coast afterwards for a week.

Jewel and Ty Murray at LAX.

* Gorgeous singer Jewel and her new husband, professional bull riding champion Ty Murray, celebrated their recent wedding with a bull riders-themed party at LAX nightclub in the Luxor.

* I think I’ve got the scoop first about Scary Spice singer-dancer Mel B (Melanie Brown) headed to Vegas -- and I’ll have all the first-flashes early next week. But for sure my British compatriot is going to start a huge buzz now that her deal has been set in cement. Now the only mystery is who she’ll be partnered with in the new venture here.

First they enjoyed a dinner of Yuzu chili chicken wings and hanger steaks with mixed green salads at Company American Bistro in the Luxor. Then it was party time in the adjoining nightclub, and even midnight magicians Criss Angel and Holly Madison stopped in to catch Jewel’s live performance. She played an incredible acoustic set, including fan favorites “Intuition” and “Who Will Save Your Soul.”

Bill Goldberg, Jason Giambi and Brian Knobbs at Wasted Space at the Hard Rock Hotel.

*Wrestling legends Bill Goldberg and Hulk Hogan tamed up for sushi and sashimi at Nobu in the Hard Rock Hotel and then joined New York Yankee Jason Giambi, who is a co-owner in Carey Hart’s Wasted Space rock club there. White-haired wrestler Brian Knobbs, one half of The Nasty Boys tag team, also joined them.

* Others partying at LAX the past few days included UFC mixed-martial arts fighters Chuck “Iceman” Liddell, Keith “Dean of Mean” Jardine and Dan “Hollywood” Henderson. The three fighters mixed and mingled with other VIP guests and posed for photos with fans. Also enjoying the scene was Detroit Tigers outfielder Gary Sheffield.

In the meantime up at sister nightclub Pure, two-time Mr. Olympia champion Jay Cutler spent the evening chatting with fans while sipping on bottled Fiji water. Bay Area beat duo HardNox surprised DJ Hollywood and the crowd when they went into the booth for an impromptu performance of several hits from their latest album.

Up at the other sister nightclub, Christian Audigier at Treasure Island, Arizona Diamondbacks player Eric Byrne took in the night revelry after supper at Social House upstairs. He had cold sake to go with his yellowtail jalapeno and garlic-oil seared Kobe beef and mini burgers before switching over to Grey Goose when he hit the dance floor. Also there was hip-hop musician Grandmaster Flash, who stuck with chardonnay!
