It’s official: Guitar legend Carlos Santana has signed a two-year deal with the giant concert booking company AEG to headline at the Hard Rock Hotel’s new Joint theater.

Click HERE for our interview last week with AEG chief John Meglen, who promised the deal was just a week away.

Carlos will perform some 36 shows a year during the residency. John hopes to sign two other headliners to rotate next year. It’s a similar policy to the one AEG has in place with Cher and Bette Midler at Caesars Palace.

Santana has previously played the MGM Grand Garden Arena twice annually on his previous Las Vegas stops to sellout crowds. The multiple Grammy winner is revered by his peers in the music business for his legendary skills and also his humbling charity work.

AEG is in the process of distributing a press release saying Santana will start the shows May 27, and it’s exclusive to the contract that he will not play any other venue west of the Mississippi for the two-year run.

His show will be titled “Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through the Hits.” He is quoted as saying: “My wish is for it to be a night to move you to dance, to cry, to laugh and to feel alive.”

Meglen commented: “This starts our plan to set the standard of rock ’n’ roll residencies.”

AEG launches the new 4,000-seat Joint theater April 17 with The Killers and two nights later with Paul McCartney, who set a new record, selling out in just seven seconds!
