Former UNLV basketball player Kaspars Kambala busted out Saturday for 42 points to lead Enisey Krasnoyarsk to a 104-98 victory over Lokomotiv Rostov in the Russian Super League.

Kambala finished his boxing career ranked No. 563 among world heavyweights, according to BoxRec.com.

While serving a two-year world basketball suspension for a failed drug test -- reportedly for a cocaine metabolite -- which he called bogus, the 6-foot-9 Kambala fought four times in Las Vegas in 2008. He was 3-0-1.

When the suspension ended, Kambala, 30, signed with Enisey in Siberia for a reported $500,000. He reported to the team after the holidays.

He has averaged 19.8 points in five games for Enisey, which is 6-7 this season in a league that is dominated by CSKA Moscow (13-0).

Kambala, a star who always attracts paparazzi in his hometown of Riga, Latvia, exploded Saturday in Rostov-on-Don, Russia. He went 15-for-21 from the field and also grabbed 13 rebounds in 34 minutes.

He is ninth on UNLV’s all-time scoring chart, with 1,699 points from 1997-98 to 2000-01.
