Bilodeau twins never barked up wrong Wranglers tree

He slinked up to me with stealth a few weeks ago at the Las Vegas Ice Center.

I had my hands in my jean pockets as I watched the Wranglers skate through their practice paces, then the barking started at my right hip.

It was Tyler Bilodeau. Or was it Jacob?

When it was announced Thursday that Wranglers super assistant coach Brent Bilodeau had accepted his first head coaching position, in the Central Hockey League for the Wichita Thunder, my first thought was about Bilodeau’s twin tykes.

Make that my second thoughts, too. And third. And fourth. Their three years here were way too short.

Jacob was cool enough a while back when a Wranglers official taught him how to say “What up, dawg?” when they saw each other. Or was that Tyler?

Then Tyler and I took it a step further. When we crossed paths, we'd simply bark at each other. Or was that Jacob? Milkbone should have hit us up to do an ad when it had the chance.

The kids will no doubt reach some heights. Bilodeau is no small lad, and his wife, Cass Bauer-Bilodeau, played in the WNBA. They often wore tiny Wranglers uniforms and skated with the professionals.

Sooner than their old man can fathom, Jacob and Tyler might return to Las Vegas to wear the big uniforms and continue a twin trend that started with the McBains and continues with the Ferraros.

I’ll know they’re back when I hear Tyler barking like a hound dog.

Or will that be Tyler?
