A win-and-in, glorified playoff game has consistently ended the NFL regular season in recent years, with NBC flexing a high-stakes divisional showdown into its final Sunday Night Football slot.

The network has pulled it off again this year. The Indianapolis Colts and Tennessee Titans play for the right to advance to next week’s playoffs at 5:25 p.m. tonight, with the former favored by 3.5 points on the road in the Sun handicapping contest’s game of the week.

That means the three competing sports writers must use one of six weekly wagers off of the South Point betting board on the contest.

As long as there’s not a tie in the AFC South showdown, one team will defy the odds by reaching the postseason. Neither the Titans nor the Colts were favored to do so at the beginning of the year.

The Westgate Las Vegas Superbook offered Indianapolis at plus-240 (risking $1 to win $2.40) to reach the playoffs before the season kicked off, while Tennessee was plus-150. As long as they don’t tie, the victor in the game is guaranteed at least a wild-card slot.

The Titans or Colts could also win the AFC South if the Texans are upset by the Jaguars earlier in the day. Few would have guessed it before the season, but the AFC South is where biggest action of week 17 lives.
