Vegas Play of the Day: San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks

Sat, Jun 30, 2018 (12:49 p.m.)

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. A participant's failure to place a bet on their scheduled day results in a $200 bankroll penalty.

Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-15.

Arizona Diamondbacks minus-115 vs. San Francisco Giants: $345 to win $300

The Giants are the flavor of the week in baseball, having won five of their last six games. That makes for a perfect time to fade them.

A lot of their current run has come from good fortune, as their last four wins have all come by one run. They’re still 4.5 games behind the Diamondbacks in the National League West standings, and in reality, the gap between the two teams is probably wider than that.

Arizona starter Shelby Miller got rocked in his first outing of the year after a prolonged injury absence, but he’s got the stuff to settle down and solidify the rotation. He’s certainly not at a disadvantage against Giants starter Dereck Rodriguez, who got beaten up pretty badly himself just two starts ago.

The line isn’t high enough. The Diamondbacks should be bigger favorites.

Current Standings: Keefer (36-29-1, $10,956), Granger (17-17, $7,659), Grimala (17-26, $2,900), Brewer (28-31-1, $3,640)
