Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, left, and guard Stephen Curry celebrate during the second half of Game 5 of basketball’s NBA Finals against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Oakland, Calif., Monday, June 12, 2017. The Warriors won 129-120 to win the NBA championship.

Mon, May 14, 2018 (5:21 p.m.)

We’ve entered the fourth season of the annual South Point-lined Play of the Day competition, effective July 1.

Starting bankrolls have reset to $10,000, with the maximum bet being to win $1,000 and the minimum wager $300. A participant's failure to place a bet on their scheduled day results in a $200 bankroll penalty.

Ray Brewer won back-to-back titles in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 seasons, after Taylor Bern prevailed in 2014-15.

Golden State Warriors plus-1.5 at Houston Rockets: $990 to win $900:

Houston has a lot going for it in the Western Conference finals, including homecourt advantage, two legit superstars and a 2-1 record against the Warriors this season. But is that enough to defeat an all-time great team like Golden State?

I don't think it will be. The Warriors haven't had much reason to play hard this season — until tonight's Game 1 — and they still ranked No. 2 in offensive efficiency this season (and No. 3 in defensive efficiency). Expect the NBA's best team to turn up the intensity and make a statement with a comfortable road win. This will be a short series.

Current Standings: Keefer (33-27-1, $11,316), Granger (17-16, $10,059), Brewer (26-27-1, $6,270), Grimala (14-21, $4,565)
