The fifth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun’s sports staff is now under way, effective July 1.
Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.
Past winners are Case Keefer in 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.
Seattle Seahawks plus-4 at Chicago Bears, $550 to win $500: When the 2018 season comes to an end, there's a good chance these two teams will be neighbors in the standings, with records ranging somewhere between 6-10 and 8-8. Neither squad looked much better than that in Week 1, so I'm simply taking the better quarterback tonight.
I think Russell Wilson can keep Seattle close in this game, despite having no offensive weapons around him. While the Bears made a big splash by acquiring Khalil Mack before the season, Aaron Rodgers' comeback against Chicago in Week 1 proved that a good quarterback is more important than a good linebacker. Give me Wilson and the points.
Current Standings: Current Standings: Keefer (11-6, $11,391), Grimala (7-3, $10,500), Granger (4-3, $9,225), Brewer (4-8, $6,740)
