The sixth season of the annual Play of the Day betting competition between the Sun's sports staff is now underway, effective July 1.

Bankrolls start at $10,000 for each of the four participants, with the objective to increase it as much as possible over the next year. The minimum daily wager is $300, with a $200 penalty assessed for failing to place a bet on an assigned day.

Past winners are Case Keefer in 2018-19 and 2017-2018, Ray Brewer in 2016-2017 and 2015-2016, and Taylor Bern in 2014-2015.

Orlando Magic minus-3 vs. Golden State Warriors: $440 to win $400

The Spurs are scuffling and playing their worst basketball in decades, but I don't think they've hit rock bottom quite yet — that will come tonight, when they go to Orlando and get walloped by a just-OK Magic team.

Orlando is the league's worst 3-point shooting squad at 28.5 percent, but the Spurs are the one opponent that won't make them pay for it, as San Antonio is 29th of 30 teams in 3's attempted per game (25.6). Look for Orlando's lengthy defense to swarm the interior, and the Magic will only have to make eight or so outside shots on the other end to hand San Antonio another dispiriting loss.

Current Standings: Grimala (10-3, $11,345), Keefer (17-13-2, $9,505), Emerson (9-12, $8,360), Brewer (8-9, $7,775)
